N.W. Reptile Adoption was created to fill a void here in the NorthWest mainly Washington state as a resource for reptile owners to find new homes for there unwanted/unable to keep reptiles.

The project started with a love for reptiles and amphibians from the founder, of N.W. Reptile Adoption, Don Pederson. "In the 7+yrs of keeping/breeding reptiles there has been a major lack of resources for people who are no longer or unable to keep the reptiles they have, mainly here in Washington state."

Most pet shops that do sell reptiles and amphibians don't always know the proper husbandry/feeding requirements for the animals they sell, a said but true case. Being uneducated is one thing but being igornate to a major problem is something different. PET SHOP OWNERS EDUCATE YOUR EMPLOYESS ON THE SPECIES YOU ARE SELLING.

So it's up to the customer to educate him or herself on the species they want, although here is an other sad but true case this rarely happens!

Bottom line here is the animals themselves are ones who suffer...usually what happens is the new owner, often this is a young child, becomes bored with their new pet. Then it's left up to mom and dad to take over of the care, and then this becomes a burden or it's flat out not done.

Well this is where we come in and provide the resource that's needed. If we really want to be able to enjoy keeping these fasinating animals then we all need to act responible.
